Dr. Ernest P. Petersen, veterinarian and medical director of the hospital, grew up in Washington state. He attended the United States Military Academy at West Point followed by military service that kept him away from this area for a number of years. He returned in 1979 to attend Washington State University earning the degrees Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and Ph.D. in Veterinary Comparative Anatomy, Physiology and Pharmacology. After working for a time in Puyallup, he purchased and reopened Animal Hospital of Parkland. In 2009, he earned board certification and is a diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners in Feline Specialty.
